A WeAreChange Colorado member was passing out DVDs on the Federal Reserve System, when a Sgt. K. Hamilton of the Commerce City Police Department approached him and asked him the content of the DVDs. He deemed the DVDs to be “Protest Material” and ordered him across the public street. Of course when the member did not comply the officer threatened to arrest him. Not having any witnesses and little documentation, he temporarily complied. 10 minutes later other members had arrived and another officer, a J. Zamora, threatened them with arrest. Among the manufactured charges the officers attempted to invent for handing out DVDs on a public sidewalk were Disorderly Conduct, Unlawful Assembly, Disobeying a Lawful Order, and Blocking the sidewalk. Eventually, the knowledge of the brewing federal court case dissuaded the CCPD from obstructing the constitution. Let them know how you stand on the First Amendment.
